L’apport nutritionnel recommandé (ANR) en vitamine E, qui est fixé à 15 mg d’alpha-tocophérol (la forme naturelle) par jour, ne serait pas entièrement comblé par le régime alimentaire des Nord-Américains. Selon les résultats d’une enquête effectuée aux États-Unis entre 2001 et 2002, les Américains auraient avantage à consommer nettement plus de graines et de noix riches en vitamine E, comme les amandes ou les graines de tournesol, s’ils veulent atteindre l’ANR. Ce conseil vaut probablement pour les Québécois et les Canadiens, dont l’alimentation est similaire à celle de leurs voisins du sud.
